Starting Smiles Off Right

When children are still growing, screening appointments provide the perfect opportunity to pursue treatment options that aren’t as effective later in life. In other words, early intervention can catch and treat an issue before it becomes a problem.

Parents often find these screening appointments helpful. We can check the eruption and development of the adult teeth and check to see if your child has the right number of teeth.

Parents and children learn about the different types of braces and the solutions available to address orthodontic issues. We believe that all parents should be educated about their child's dental development so that they can help to encourage a beautiful, healthy smile that will last a lifetime

Braces can be used to straighten a child's teeth, make room and close gaps, but they can also help improve the way the top and bottom teeth come together.

Of course, braces are used to create beautiful smiles, but more importantly, braces create an ideal environment for the teeth and jaws to function properly.

Consultations & Monitoring for Children

Children should visit the orthodontist for the first time before the age of 7 for an evaluation. This visit will give us an opportunity to determine whether orthodontic treatment could benefit your child's oral development now or in the future.

If immediate treatment is required, we'll create a personalized treatment plan and get the ball rolling. If not, we offer free assessment appointments every six to 12 months until your child is ready for Invisalign.

Features of Braces for Kids

If you're a parent considering braces for your child, it's important to know that braces have changed since you were a kid. Here's how:

More Efficient

Kids who aren't super excited about getting braces will be pleased to know that innovations in orthodontic science have made braces more efficient at correcting misalignments than in the past. That translates to shorter treatment times for kids today.

More Streamlined

Not very long ago, braces were bulky and sharp, often accompanied by headgear. Today, metal braces are much smaller and lighter, designed with comfort and effectiveness in mind. An additional bonus is that modern braces typically only need to be adjusted every four to six weeks!

More Fun

Children's braces can actually be fun. Although they do affect the appearance of the smile during treatment, many of our young patients look forward to choosing the next colour for their braces' elastics. Some even like to choose a mixture of colours for extra pizazz.

Braces Treatment at South Surrey Smiles

Orthodontic braces traditionally straighten teeth using a combination of brackets, elastic bands, and wires.

But today's braces aren't the clunky, uncomfortable face-full-of-metal that you might be picturing from decades ago. Modern braces are more streamlined and more comfortable than ever before.
